10 October 2026: The three-day symposium, held at PEMA Rehab under the theme “Inclusive Mental Wellbeing: Transforming Vulnerabilities to Hope, Healing and Human Connection,” brought together international and local experts and stakeholders to discuss how to make mental health care in Bhutan more proactive, inclusive and compassionate.
Addressing the gathering, Her Majesty’s granted a powerful message on the responsibility of care and protection, noting that vulnerability is part of being human, and that our aim is to build a society where everyone feels safe, supported, valued and connected.
Her Majesty’s central message was that a society is measured by how it responds to vulnerability, and that real progress is judged by the difference made in people’s lives, not by services provided or intentions held. Her Majesty spoke about suicide prevention and the protection of children as shared responsibilities, and called on everyone to turn knowledge into timely action, to support people in rebuilding their lives, and to hold those who harm children accountable, including through a review of penalties for sexual offences.
